A Timeless Black and White Fall Wedding at La Pointe Events
On a romantic mid-October day, Katelyn and Luke tied the knot at La Pointe Events. With a classy black and white color palette and candle-lit ambiance, their wedding was truly timeless.
As an adventurous, travel-loving couple, Luke asked Katelyn the big question while on a trip in Croatia. He even surprised Katelyn with all of their family secretly flying in! After their engagement, Katelyn immediately reached out to HappiLily Events knowing she wanted to work with us — she had been a bridesmaid for one of our past couples! With a year and a half to plan the celebration, you know every detail of their wedding day was meticulously planned and thoughtfully designed. Here’s how their dream day came together!
THE VISION
La Pointe Events, in Somerset, Wisconsin, is the ideal venue for couples who want an elegant “blank slate” backdrop for their wedding day, which is exactly what Katelyn and Luke dreamed of. Embracing the venue’s aesthetic, the couple chose a black-and-white color palette and modern yet classic decor.
For an elegant look, the wedding party wore all black and groomsmen wore bowties. Katelyn’s dress was a stunning corset-cut strapless gown from a&bé bridal shop that was detailed with 3D sequined floral lace. She wore her hair in a classic half-up, half-down style with glam waves and a veil.
The gorgeous florals were designed by Juniper Rose Floral. Bouquets and arrangements were classy and neutral with white ranunculus, lisianthus, and hints of light pink and sandstone roses, which provided the softest hints of color. The ceremony aisle was lined with individual flower stems pushed into the ground, leading the way to a hexagon arbor in front of the river. It was beautiful, especially with the backdrop of changing leaves from the trees across the river.
In the venue, tastefully minimal florals in white ceramic bud vases lined each table, along with sleek taper candles and clear ribbed votives. One of our favorite things about fall weddings is that an earlier sunset means candlelight makes a much bigger impact; with all of the windows at La Pointe and candles on every table, Katelyn and Luke’s wedding felt so romantic, cozy, and elegant!
THE PARTY
When Katelyn and Luke envisioned their wedding, they knew they wanted the day to feel formal AND fun, and did it ever!
To include guests in the ceremony, guests were given biodegradable confetti to throw after the couple said, “I do!” which was an exciting way to begin the celebration. For a “wow” statement, the couple rented marquee letters to illuminate the patio with their last name — FEATHERSTONE — which looked incredible as the sun set and the string lights lit up the pine trees! To keep the energy up for their grand entrance, the couple poured a champagne tower and shared a toast with the wedding party.
A bustlin’ dance floor was a must for Katelyn and Luke, so they hired DJ Aaron Strawn. From the first dances to the last song, their guests packed the dance floor all night long. One of our favorite moments from the night is when Katelyn’s mom surprised the couple by running out with giant cutouts of their dog, Wrigley!
It was an unforgettable party for Katelyn, Luke, and their guests, and we loved being a part of it!
